At the end of 2017, I received a briefing list and decided on my graduate project : design for a parent-child bike. I asked myself why I wanted to pursue this project and realized that I first needed to understand what this product could offer them, or what kind of bike they would actually want.
Driven by great passion, I began studying the relationship between parents and children. Nowadays, more and more parents pay attention to the development of the parent-child relationship. A good parent-child relationship plays an important role in a child's upbringing.
Base on the observation, there are various types of parent–child relationships, including permissive, supportive, and emotionally close styles. Each type reflects different levels of parental control, emotional involvement, and communication.
Permissive Style
Supportive Style
Interviews
Emotionally close style
After analyzing parent–child interactions through observation and interviews, I chose to center the design of the bike around meaningful interaction.
The Product exactly suit for a family to go on a relaxing short tour. It consist of three parts - one main part, two parts of the tricycle.
